With increased light output comes a wider range of features. The Type X™ EVO houses 44 LEDs set within a 3D lens, supported by updated heat sink technology designed to dissipate heat more effectively.

The multi-bezel design allows for a unique sealing structure, using a hidden structural seal beneath a precisely proportioned outer bezel. This creates added depth, shadow, and a more refined overall finish.

STEDI has also introduced a new level of presentation and sustainability through bespoke packaging design. Each spotlight is individually packed in a water-resistant hard case, finished with STEDI™ detailing across every side, giving the product a premium feel before it is even fitted to the vehicle.

The Type X™ EVO carries a bold attitude while maintaining a timeless design. It reflects a forward-thinking approach to driving lights and pushes the boundaries of what a premium auxiliary light can be.

At first glance, the silhouette and metallic bezel are likely to stand out. But on closer inspection, the more considered design elements begin to reveal themselves.

The 3D primary lens is one of the most distinctive features. Step into sunlight and its purpose becomes clear. Similar to the sculpted surfaces found on modern vehicle doors, the lens has been shaped to reflect the glow of the sky through its upward-facing section, while the lower section captures the shadows and depth of the terrain ahead.

Even a slight change in angle can dramatically alter the visual effect.

And the design detail does not stop there.

The iconic black covers have also been updated with a next-generation design focused on tactility. Like the 3D primary lens, the black cover uses shadow and light as part of its appearance, but with sharper, more defined edges that create a striking effect across the piano black finish.

On closer inspection, the STEDI™ logo is embossed into the cover, continuing the multi-dimensional design theme throughout the product. The result is a driving light that feels as much like a sculptural design piece as it does a high-performance lighting product.

 

THERE ARE NO BAD OPTIONS.

The Type X™ EVO is available in separate dedicated flood and spot beam patterns, giving drivers the ability to mix and match their setup and take greater control over the beam pattern that best suits their driving style and needs.

Using more efficient technology from CREE’s XP range of LEDs, the Type X™ EVO delivers impressive performance across every key criteria while retaining the warmer tones associated with high-efficacy 5000K XP LEDs.

So, should you choose flood or spot?

For long-range driving on straight, open roads, a pair of Type X™ EVO spot beams may be the best option. This setup is designed to project light far down the road, creating a focused beam that reaches nearly as far as the eye can see.

A pair of spot beams provides up to 1470m of light throw, producing a strong tunnel of light for open-road driving.

The Type X™ EVO flood beam is designed for a very different purpose. It delivers a wide, flat lateral beam across the horizon, giving excellent visibility across the road and surrounding terrain. The key to the flood beam design is its peak intensity in the critical zone.

The critical zone refers to the distance needed to safely stop from 100km/h and avoid a potential animal strike. In most situations, drivers want at least 200–300m of correctly placed usable light in front of the vehicle. With more than 475m of elongated horizontal light from a single Type X™ EVO flood beam, this setup provides excellent visibility and confidence in a wide range of night driving conditions.

Pairing a Type X™ EVO flood with a Type X™ EVO spot creates a highly effective combination. It delivers both broad roadside visibility and long-range forward projection, making it a strong all-round setup.

With an even more intense beam pattern, the Type X™ EVO represents the next evolution of the STEDI™ driving light legacy.
