STEDI Type-X™ EVO Mini Guide

THE REVEAL.
DESIGN.

Drawing inspiration from its larger siblings (the Type-X™ Evo 8.5-inch and 7-inch models), the EVO Mini is specifically engineered to complement the sharp aesthetics of today's modern vehicles. Don't let the compact footprint fool you—this is a high-performance LED driving light through and through. Following the exact same design philosophy as the broader EVO lineup, the Mini integrates seamlessly with the front end of any new rig.
The first thing you will notice is the Mini’s streamlined silhouette, which intentionally mimics the angular, hexagonal styling found on modern grilles. Looking closer, the design stands out with two main features: a precision-engineered 3D lens shaped to optimally direct and spread the light, and custom-colored fascia rings featuring a sleek, metallic finish.
When it comes to durability, there are zero compromises. The EVO Mini lenses are constructed from Lexan polycarbonate—the exact same high-impact material used to make riot shields—guaranteeing they won't shatter or chip on rough tracks. Plus, swapping out the covers and fascia rings is completely tool-free. You can ditch the Allen keys and screws entirely, thanks to a fast and effortless snap-on system.
PERFORMANCE.

Most readers are likely already familiar with the wildly popular C4 LED cube task lights. While the C4 is fantastic for stealth driving applications on motorbikes and quad bikes, the EVO Mini was built with a specific mission in mind. Our goal was to perfectly bridge the gap between the ultra-compact versatility of the C4 and the heavy-hitting performance of a traditional full-size LED driving light.
Just like the larger EVO 8.5-inch model, the EVO Mini is available in dedicated Spot and Flood beam options. This gives you the complete freedom to mix and match beam patterns, ensuring you have the perfect lighting setup for any environment or driving condition. By taking the engineering expertise gained from developing our premium driving lights and condensing it into this compact housing, we've successfully delivered the most powerful Lux output ever seen in a 4-inch driving light to date.

FLOOD
SPOT
The design of the Type-X™ EVO 8.5-inch utilized the brightest LED available: the CREE XPL2 emitter. This remarkably powerful LED can be underdriven—powered at a lower rate—to deliver high performance while extending its operational lifespan. Building on the success of the original EVO, this exact methodology carries over to the EVO Mini. By incorporating 10 XPL2 LEDs, the Mini achieves proportional, heavy-hitting performance in a highly versatile form factor.
For context, 1 Lux is a unit of measurement that quantifies the minimum amount of light required to read a book or magazine when illuminated by a light source. Operating a pair of EVO Mini Spots achieves 1 Lux at a distance of up to 580 meters. Conversely, a pair of EVO Mini Floods measures 1 Lux at 285 meters, paired with an impressive 140 meters of light spread. Ultimately, the Type-X™ EVO Mini delivers exceptional output and a broad beam pattern, perfectly engineered to enhance driver visibility.

Defining the Critical Zone
The “critical zone” refers to the optimal distance required to safely stop from a speed of 100 km/h to avoid animal collisions. Ideally, you need 200-300 meters of well-placed light ahead. The Type-X™ EVO Mini floods, provides over 140 meters of extended horizontal light, boosting your safety whilst driving.
Please note, that depending on where the EVO Mini light is installed, these stats will vary. For example, should you use a pair of EVO Mini Floods for ditch lights on your vehicle bonnet, due to the outward angle you should see an increase in lateral light output.
FITMENT

Although the Type-X™ EVO Mini is the smallest iteration in the Type-X™ EVO lineup, its fitment applications are highly extensive. The EVO Mini thrives in diverse mounting ecosystems: it easily fits within tight bull bar spaces, serves perfectly as a ditch light, and can be chained together for a Baja-style Prerunner setup on roof racks using the EVO Mini Under Rack Bracket. Furthermore, while the EVO Mini is officially a driving light, it has proven highly successful on lightweight recreational vehicles. Thanks to its compact footprint, it can easily be mounted to motorcycle front forks, ATV rear bars, or alongside an EVO 7-inch driving light on the front of a UTV.
STEDI™ rigorously tests all products, particularly the driving light range, in the punishing conditions of the Australian outback. Subjected to scorching heat, hundreds of kilometers of corrugated roads, and deep bog holes, the Type-X™ EVO Minis consistently thrive. This resilience is due to a robust cast aluminum alloy housing, an advanced shock-resistant design, and a strict IP68 waterproof rating. Ultimately, these 4-inch LED driving lights are engineered for longevity, providing complete peace of mind on the trails.
For installation, the EVO Mini driving lights feature a plug-and-play Deutsch 2-Pin Connector, allowing for easy integration into pre-existing wiring systems without the need for complex modifications. When running more than two EVO Minis, or when pairing them with EVO 7-inch or 8.5-inch models, utilizing a Smart Harness is highly recommended to safely manage the electrical draw.
For setups requiring four or more lights—such as a roof-mounted Prerunner array—the 9 Array Harness allows up to nine lights to be daisy-chained in sequence. Additionally, to ensure seamless integration, a comprehensive range of vehicle-specific High-Beam Adapters is available to complete the installation.
CUSTOMISATION.
COLOUR FASCIA RINGS

The Type-X™ EVO Mini driving lights come with a range of beautiful metallic finished fascia to choose from, such as carbon fibre, grey, red, green, pink, orange, and blue. Moreover, fitting this fascia is a breeze as they require no tools at all. Say goodbye to screws and alan-keys and hello to snap-fit solutions. Also, we are constantly adding more options for you to choose from, so stay tuned for exciting new colours on the way.
BLACKOUT/FILTER COVERS.

If you’re looking to improve the performance of your Evo mini driving lights. Look no further than the STEDI™ Evo blackout & filter covers. The former (filtered lenses) change the colour and tone of the beam from a 5700k white to blue or amber light, with more lens variations forthcoming. Meanwhile, the blackout covers are designed to protect the Evo Mini driving lights from dust and debris. These covers are available in various designs, but their primary purpose is to protect your lights and alter their beam characteristics.
Whilst driving light covers are often designed for aesthetic or functional purposes, they also play a crucial role in adhering to road compliance regulations. For instance, in Australia, having more than four driving lights makes a vehicle unroadworthy; by covering a light it is excluded from this count. Similarly, in the EU and USA, regulations require all auxiliary lights to be covered when driving on sealed roads. PLEASE NOTE: You are responsible for the LVV compliance of products purchased and installed
